New to woodburning need help. My husband installed a godin petit 3720. He used dura vent double wall chimney kit 6" straight thru ceiling (with attic space) When he burns the wood there is an almost chemical smell which causes my eyes and nose to burn and feel nausea, and get a headache. the wood is seasoned and untreated, our house is sealed too well so we do crack a window nearby, any help would be appreciated.

The first couple times the stove and the piping get hot the paint will be baking in. It may be a good idea to leave the house when this is happening or at least open a nearby window and place a fan exhausting out in it. Have hubby take the stove up over 500F for an hour while you are out. A couple good bake-in sessions should cure the smell.

This is of course assuming hubby did everything by the book. If he has any questions put him on here and we'll be happy to try and answer them.

Is that a new or used stove? A CO detector nearby may also be a good idea, regardless of the smell/fumes.
