anyone know of anyone that does this? I have called 4 or 5 places that I know of off hand, but no one is doing grapple loads right now. Was hoping someone on here in NH might be able to help or PM me some information. Thank you.

In the spring I had a problem getting a grapple load as the pulp mills were paying over $1200 for a truck load. I'm NW of Concord and from what I have seen is you have to know someone who knows someone to get wood.
I found a couple of local places in southern NH to buy wood. Its going between $250 and $300 for a cord... depending on how seasoned it is... and is pretty hard to get this late in the season.
Lots of construction and lot clearing in Pelham and neighboring towns. Seems to be good for wood market (or was earlier in the year).

I am with you. With oil where it is, these guys selling firewood at 300 a cord. can keep it. It sucks that we live in the 2nd most forested state in the country and its virtually impossible to find reasonably priced fire wood. When i started burning wood it was fairly easy to find free hardwood scrounges on craigslist if you looked hard enough. Now people on craigslist are trying to sell softwoods for ludicrous prices.
So after such a mild winter and it being spring and all, one would think firewood prices in NH would drop and some free scores would start appearing on craigslist. NOPE. I dont get it, i really dont.
Frustrating to say the least. everyone on craigslist thinks they can get 100$+ for rotting piles of wood in their yard.
Going price around here is $200 for a cord. I did find one person selling for $130 I bought 1.5 if I had the cash I would have bought 2 or even 3. He said he had to lower from $160 to $130 to compete with oil. I think most of the part time wood sellers are holding on to there stock for when the price of oil goes up. Then they will capitalize on it. My opinion is it won't go down much until we have 2 to 3 years of low oil prices.
Tip for the the scroungers: Eversource is currently clearing a LOT of trees along their power lines, along Route 101 between Bedford and Amherst. They're leaving the logs by the roadside if you want to buck them up and haul them away.
They are clearing along the lines again here too.
Nice straight hardwood logs are cut to eight feet and hauled off, everything else is being chipped and hauled off.
They're not leaving a twig.
