learning all kinds of things reading this forum. Like I have said before I am still planning my fireplace insert install, but I had never heard of the insulated liner, I knew about the uninsulated ones from the kits the big box stores sell with their stoves. It sures pays to do some research! Thanks to all on here for all the info. And I do know I'll be buying the insulated liner, seems it's one of most important part of the install !

Welcome. I wish I had found the forum before I bought my insert. I’ve also learned a ton of info here. It’s a great resource.

Mine is centered in the house, no need to insulate.

That is not at all accurate. Internal chimneys still need insulated in most cases

I can only go by my own install which did not need an insulated liner.

Yes and those clearances are actually higher for internal chimneys.

So you have 2" of air space between the outside of that chimney all the way up and out of the house?
