Greenwood Aspen 175 questions

Hi All
An older guy that worked for me is looking for a outdoor wood fired boiler/heater.He has experience with the the old school Central boiler.He has seen my Gasser but has no interest in that style of unit.
The Central Boiler he looked at was $8000 for the smallest unit.
I found a Greenwood Aspen 175 that is new and close enough that it shouldn't cost much to get it.The price is $4000.
So is this a New company making this boiler?Are they any good?And how will it compare with the Central Boiler?
Any advice appreciated.

Not sure, they seem to have "fixed" some of the GW issues, but you still have to remove the boiler skins to clean HX............

Don't they have an induced draft fan and something like a 4" flue connection?

So i bought the boiler for my friend,it's a couple of weeks away.Anyhow he would like to know what the sixe of the pipe fittings to hook up to it.Hot out and cold in.

The Aspen is an outdoor boiler, I have the indoor 100....Once you figure out the nuances of the Greenwood it is a good boiler that puts out a ton of heat.....I think the Aspen is probably comparable to most other OUTDOOR types of furnaces...good luck.

I had a boiler like that, in fact I still have it as a lawn ornament, If you can keep it clean they are a good boiler. Just a real pain in the butt to clean. they work best with storage so you can burn them full blast untill gone. Use dry wood or you will have trouble. Good Luck

The Greenwood Aspen was made by Pro-Fab on a contract basis for the Greenwood company and it's the same boiler as the Empyre Pro which is an outdoor wood gasification boiler.
