Just installed my new stove last week and after a few fires the griddle surface has a burnt look to it. Is there any way to clean it off or shine it up to look new again?

That's natural. Steel wood is good for cleaning.
 
That's how mine looks. I was told steel wool with a little vegetable oil. Haven't tried it yet
