I fired up mine this past Wed. The house was 66 and I prefer to do a "test" burn just incase I need something before the season. I also fired up the radiant floor heat in the kitchen since putting it this summer with our kitchen remodel.

Just ordered my last section of pipe to get thru the roof. Once that is in I got to do the first burn and dial the stove in. Burning a bit of propane now when the boiler kicks on late night/ early morning.

Every year I try to hold out but then I get too excited to turn on the stove in oct. Like a kid at a toy store...

Just cracked the second bag. Burning around dinner time and shutting down before bed. It's ON!

I cut coupons already

With the sun, it gets to be 70 in the house in the day. by the time its chilly, its bed time under the blankets any way. the morning shower is a little chilly, but then i'm gone for the day anyway so who cares? house warms up in the sun again all day.

It's still hitting the mid 60s in the day time here, which helps. but the nights are low 40s. Once that changes to 50/30s, things need to start catching fire.

I've been burning sporadically for 3-4 weeks. I don't really care about the date for starting it, just temperature. This season half the time I've burned has been for testing and fine tuning, not actually because I need the heat. Mines on a programmable t-stat so most nights lately it only kicks on once or twice at night to maintain a nice sleeping temp and then for about an hour of so before I get up in the morning so it's nice and warm.

I am installing a new pellet stove this year and haven't burned yet except for the driveway test burn..... and I only have 2 bags on hand! That being said this weekend I will be installing it, which should be easy as I have the pipes from my last stove all set to go.

Someone said to me today that next week fall is taking over (although I heard that before, I think this time its for real). Temps overnight in the 30's. in my area.

Still have a completely clean stove but a bag of pellets is less than 10 feet away ready to go.

Been burning stove at night for past couple weeks when needed. With cooler temps coming, I cleaned pipe, and esp, and went ahead and did the blowers. Dumped bag #9 in and am ready !!

I'm trying to not burn anything until at least November. House is chilly but either put on a sweatshirt or blanket. Enjoy the months without using AC or heat.
