Hamer Hots produce very good heat for a hardwood.. downside is u will get lot of ash...
same with barefoot, Tru-wood. But those 3 are much better than most box store hardwoods..

should mention that I burn softwoods most of winter due to lowest ash and higher btu than hardwoods.
the hardwoods i burn are for early fall [ or shoulder season] when the real cold has not surfaced yet/.

Actually, I was going to ask the OP if there were any premium softwood pellets available there. I believe it is all mostly hardwood.
I burn Eastern Embers and it is softwood. It is excellent. I would never switch.

I work the other way around, a 50/50 blend, fall and spring, and Cubix hard wod during the cold
months. Cubix has a greater BTU than the Fusion Blend 50/50 both made by the same flooring company in Quebec

Ok thank you . I can get awf . American wood fibers our easyblaze also
I looked up those EZ Blaze pellets. The specs look look like mine which are made from spruce, fir and pine. That is what I would burn if I was down there. I think they are even better than mine as they are "Super Premium"

Here are my top 6 results for temperature of air coming out of the distribution holes of my P43 (using oven thermometer). Cubes and Fusion Blend were the hottest burning pellets I've ever burned (not sure why the plain Fusions - basically Cubix - burned a bit colder.. The Fusion Blend was the hottest, but it also had a weird, gravelly ash that I was not fond of. Here are my top temps - note that 3 out of the 6 are hardwoods (I was shocked by the GS hardwoods).

yes.. most hardwoods from private dealers are much better than box store stuff like green supremes..

Been burning Hamers since my Quad was installed in 2011. I wouldn't burn anything else. I've tried a few others and keep coming back.

Thanks I just got 2 tons of hardwood heat by hammers there sold at souther states down here . Do they burn quick n this stove I just had mine put in so this is my 1st year with it
Some folks say they do. In the heart of winter I can burn around two bags a day. Stove is not centrally located, large house, 16' ceilings. You'll have to decide. Good luck. Keep us posted on your progress.

I burn Hamer, Barefoot and when steady cold hits 24/7, i can go thru 2 bags per day.. Harman P61A.
BOTH give great heat but like most hardwoods comes lot of ash..
no biggie..stoves get vacuum every week.

If I keep my P43 as low as it will go in stove mode, running 100% I burn one bag per day of premium softwood. It is in the basement so I can't run it any higher. I am planning on 2 pallets of 70 or 140 heating days. For Dec Jan Feb = 90 Full days I expect. Home Depot have been getting deliveries and are now up to 32 pallets in stock. I am going to check them out today to see what happened to the 4 or 5 pallets that were there before the new shipments. Getting ready to take delivery and will store outside as they come on skids and shrink wrap. They are outside now in the parking lot I'm guessing.

Ordered my pellets today. Delivery Monday. I decided if they were going to sit outside at home depot, they might as well sit in my driveway while I know the guy has no choice but to load the good ones. Beware of buying pellets that might be exposed to rain, and maybe outside for over a year. I saw some holes in the shrink wrap on one pallet in the back, so someone is going to get old wet pellets.

My P61a (basement stove) has been super for me. I had it put in early January of 2014 and the only thing I've done to it is replace door gaskets a couple of times. I bought the P43 (main floor stove) used and had to replace both the distribution fan and the exhaust fan a couple of years ago. But I'm not sure how it was treated/stored at its first home. Replaced door gaskets last year.
