looking at buying an englander 13-nc and it needs a hearth with a r value of 2.0. Having a hard time trying to figure out how much durarock or what is needed to get that r value, ill be building this hearth from scratch if that helps. Reading the manuel on it is kinda tough to understand. Thanks.
 
May also consider building your hearth large enough to possibly accommodate a larger/different model in the future. Same with your pipe to wall clearance. Glad I did.

Yes hearth will be build oversize but its not tje forever home so i wont be changing the stove again unless the englander doesnt perform well, pipe clearances im stuck with whata here, should just make the 18" clearance
