Hi folks ... newbie here .... Just purchased a hearthstone woodstove, in what looks to be really good shape, but it has no info. tag on it.

I think it's a hearthstone 2, so an older model, and quite large.

Side loading, with a split front access.

Anyone have a manual or information on clearances, or feedback on this lovely beast?

Thanks,

Jason

That looks like an H1 to me. The manual is here: https://www.hearth.com/talk/wiki/hearthstone-hi-and-hii/ . It is a heating beast, takes a lot of wood but will burn for a long time and the stones do a good job of retaining the heat. Check the interior to be sure the baffle and burn tube are not warped or burnt out.

Hey ... Thanks to Begreen ... found a PDF manual from another thread ... From 2005?
Blessings on you and all your family ;-)

Welcome and keep us posted on how it goes with that beast. It is going to want dry wood.

Hey ... Thanks again ... Great information ... All seems well inside ... Plates and baffles, tubes and floor all looking really fine ... It really does look like a citadel of thermal bliss ... Now for installation!

Be sure to put it on a very solid hearth. That is one heavy stove.

No. Probably from the late 70's / early 80's. My brother has that stove. Will absolutely drive you out of the room. Meant for big spaces. Will hold a lot of wood and have a long burn. Pre-1989, so it could be called a smoke dragon, but he claims the chimney doesn't bellow smoke when it's hot. Enjoy it.
