I guess I didn't do a proper break in fire. How did you ever do a break in fire if the stove won't stay going?

I was reading that. I thought myself, I would do more then one break-in fire on a new stove, being that stove is going to be with you for a long time. I hope Brian lets us know what he finds out about his fires going out, once the door had been closed.A proper break-in fire for a hearthstone is to make the stove warm to the touch, then shut it down and let it cool back to room temperature. This should be done every year or you risk breaking a stone.
Wow, shame on HearthstoneThanks to everyone for their advice and guidance.
It turns out that the primary air control lever was not hooked up. Just built a fire as we have a cold front moving in and the Equinox is functioning perfectly.
Cheers!

Also, I want to know if the Equinox ash pan housing needed to be removed to reattach the linkage. I had to do that with the Heritage. That's a surprising oversight on Hearthstone's quality inspection. Would it be possible to photograph this linkage and post a picture here to help others? Was this a dealer install? If so, they also dropped the ball here.

I don't know about that. I've seen a bunch of Hearthstones, I've run one myself, and I've known several that have owned them. All stoves can ship with issues. From Lopi, to PE, to Quadradire. Hearthstone seems to be in line with the other manufacturers when it comes to production errors.Hearthstone does not appear to have any QC whatsoever. It's a nicely designed stove that apparently is built and shipped in a hurry without a second look. It's really a shame because they're a nice stove when they get it right.
