I'm sure the baffle can be removed somehow (perhaps by removing the cast iron top plate), but is there a practical way to remove it for flue cleaning? The baffle seems to rest on the secondary air supply tubes, but is it that simple...just remove the tubes and lower the baffle? If so, does that give clear access to the flue collar for a SootEater?
From the exploded diagram, it looks as through the secondary riser and rear firebricks may be in the way of the flue collar. There also appear to be two baffles: an "upper" and "lower" ceramic board.
Does anyone have any experience they can share? Is it easier just to remove the flue from the collar and raise it up? If so, how far does a slip joint typically allow the flue to rise?
