Heat and glow low flame

Hello, new to the forum but looking for some advice. I have a Heat and Glow 6000CLX-IPI-S fireplace that's about 15 years old. It isn't used too often and now when I turned it on only a very low blue flame is present. The pilot lights right away. Can't increase the flame any higher despite putting it on high setting.

I opened the unit and cleaned it thoroughly. I disassembled the unit and blew compressed air through the burner in case any insects or spider webs got in there but no luck. It was relatively clean to start with.

I then tested the regulator at the only two electrical connections I could find, The one that I think goes to the pilot read about 37ohms and the one that goes to the motor read 57 ohms although a number 50 is written right below the plug. I'm thinking the regulator is bad but looking for some advice before I call for service.

Did you remove the burner orifice & clean behind it?

Thank you for replying. If you mean the brass tip, It looked clean to me (like no dust or cob webs). I wasn't exactly sure if it would just come off with a 10mm wrench. The orifice is pretty small but I guess something could get in there and cause airflow problems.

It should be a 1/2” or 13mm hex on that orifice. The spider in question will build a white nest in the tube behind it. With a pipe cleaner or Q-Tip, you should be able to remove it

Easy way to test that regulator is manometer to pOut. But I'm with Daksy bet my lunch money it's a spider.

You were right. I went back in and took off the brass fitting at the burner tip. Used a 3/8 wrench it was only hand tight. Small spider web was in there. Now the fireplace works fine. Thanks for the advice.
