Hello all.

I have what I think is a heat n glow gas log fireplace in my house.

I did not build the house just bought it and know nothing about it.

This is one of two fireplaces in the house. The other is more typical with the metal surround that you can remove and find the controls and pilot infighting button. I got that one running easily enough.

The one pictured is in my family room and has a stone surround and a wall switch.

The thing is I cannot get this one to work. Flipping on the switch is a no go. Can’t light pilot. Can’t even find a shutoff by valve or infighter for pilot.

The only “control” is a little metal lever on the left side that moves pretty freely. I figure that may be the flame height adjustment.

I have checked all around the walls near it for a panel or a key to turn things on and off. Nuttin!!!!

Anyone got any ideas? There are no service techs near me that I can find.

Help!

Look at the upper left side of the firebox opening, & behind the screen.
There should be a rating plate with the appliance information.
Take a pic of it. That will let us know what THAT says
The logs look to be a gas log set.
Here's what I would do:
Take it apart log by log & take a pic at each step.
You already have a pic of the entire set installed.
See which log comes out easiest, remove & take another pic.
Repeat until you have ALL the logs out.
With them all out, you should see the gas controls, & maybe a rating plate attached to the valve.
Take another pic to show us what you have, & we can try to further help you.

How old is it? Possible that they covered the access panel on the bottom with marble?

House is 12 years old and I assume they put it in when new. Just got home for holidays. I took the logs apart and saw no plate. Going to have to remove all the gravel and whatnot and look around some more.

I had to locate the model information for my heat n Glo recently.
I have a 6000-GLX.

My information was located in the space underneath the unit - so in your case - it was not under the gravel, but below the unit it appears there is a piece of black marble. Perhaps that piece is removable.

Good luck,

Thanks for the moral support guys.

Turns out it was all covered up by the gravel.
