Nameplate lists the efficiency at 53.8%. Does this seem low for a direct vent gas fireplace? Thought that was the lower end for a B vent fireplace, and direct vent were in the 70% range.

Thank you,

Good question. I've been wondering how consumers can even check nameplates, as efficiency info doesn't seem easy to find online. Does the efficiency have to be independently tested by a third party lab? I recall HPBA fought to ensure gas fireplaces were listed as decorative, so they would not have to meet efficiency standards. Is that correct?
