Heatilator PS 50 or CAB 50, how are they?

I'm considering buying a pellet stove and i really want the capability to cross link it into my basebord heating system and the heatilator PS 50 or the CAB 50 seem to be the only ones that can fit my budget (around 2000) i was wondering if they are good stoves for the money or am i just throwing money away?

this is my third season with my PS50.
it's a rugged stove with quality quadra fire components inside.
i've had no issues with anything except the igniter just went.
that's just part and parcel of any stove with an igniter.

i'm not aware of anything that allows the stove to be hooked into any other systems however.

if you do decide on the heatilator, shop around. i've heard of some better deals than list price.

I had a Cab 50, worked well but just too noisy for my liking so I traded in on something quieter and nicer looking. If looks and sound aren't an issue then you can't beat the cab for the bigger hopper for only a few hundred more.

Love My PS50

looks good set im my older parlor (lots of stain and wood paneling), the older stove look may or may not go well in a newer more modern looking home....dunno

She's a beast, throws out some heat!

I was quoted 1700$ new from a locale dealer, but ended up finding a used one (few months old) for I think**** around 800 (was less than 1000$ and seller had receipts showing purchase date)

Quality built stove with 0 mechanical issues thus far, factory paint is rather meh.......I stripped mine down completely when I got it home and hi temp powder coated it.

We love our PS50.......Only 3 settings-Lo-Med-Hi......We wanted something relatively simple to operate for our 1st stove.....Have used Hi for the first few times during this cold snap......As far as the noise,we dont have anything to compare it to......It does make some noise......We got used to it........And on Low and Med it is not really bad.......

I posted in a similar post. So far, great stove and I am happy with the purchase. On low/med you can barely hear this stove. On high, the fan sounds like a small window ac unit. We have our stove right next to the tv and we just turn the tv up a little and no problem. Compared to the window ac units we use in the summer, the noise it makes on high is nothing obnoxious or unbearable. I would assume if someone is used to central air with an outside unit then the sounds inside may not be normal to them, but it doesn't bother me or my wife. With the heat this thing throws on high, the pro outweighs the con

I compared PS50 and CAB50 at a local dealer. The major difference is hopper size. CAB50 can hold 3 bags. I have a CAB50. It works very well. The noise is not bad at all - I mean at Low or M.

I love my PS50! This is my 2nd season and it's working like a champ.

3rd season and no problems. Not sure what sound some think is too loud. It has a blower on it so it's not a stealth fighter but it is tuned out (like traffic if you live near a road)and I have to peak over the couch to see if it's still running.

I think it looks nice but I guess it's like your friend's wife. You don't think she's pretty but he does and he is the one that has to live with her.
