We need help! I know nothing about fireplaces or chimneys. We have a wood burning fireplace (there when we moved in)- Superior SP38A with a FAK-160 fan. It is cemented in with decorative stone. There is a bird stuck in the fan portion of the chimney. There is no access point beside the grates in the front of the unit (one top that is wiggly but not removable and one bottom that is firmly in place). No idea how it got in there or how to get it out. Is there any way to access the fan compartment from inside the chimney? Thanks for the help!!!

Wanted to bump this thread. Any luck with getting the bird out?

could be a fledgling given the time of year. might be a nest in the chimney? good luck, hope it works out well.

Could it be a bat?

you haven't cut it out yet!?
