Hello I have lived in my home for 8 years and never had a fire in the fireplace. I was recently given a used Avalon pendleton insert. My wife would love me to install but. I'm not sure where to start. It is a brick chimney. I know I need a liner but not sure what. Thank you for your time and help

Welcome. The first place to start is to have the chimney inspected and cleaned if necessary. Then download the Pendleton manual if it didn't come with the stove. Are you considering self-installing or having it installed?

I would like to try it myself im a welder/pipe fitter by trade and am pretty good with tools. This is just new to me and don't want to burn my house down. I have been looking at stainless liners a bit. how do I know what I need. Thank for you time and help

Once you know the ID of the chimney tile you will know whether the liner will fit with an insulation wrap. A 6" stainless liner will have an OD of ~8" once it is wrapped. If that is too tight you may need to order pre-insulated liner with a smaller OD.
There are a lot of threads in this forum on liner installation and some good videos. You can get liner kits which makes ordering a little easier, though you'll want to be sure the kit components match your installation's needs.

Rockford's website has some good information on liners and installing. That'll keep you busy for an evening or two.
