Holz Hausen on a slope?

I'm getting ready to start stacking my first bit of wood in a Holz Hausen, and the area where I plan to stack has a slight slope to it. Should I proceed with stacking on the slope, or create a level surface with a few 4x4 timbers and some cross slats?

I'm sure you could "work into" the slope. Take your time and monitor along the way. Good luck
