Home made birds nest remover

I made a birds nest extractor out of a air brake chamber return spring, washer and a pipe fitting. My neighbor has a birds nest instide his rain cap no easy or safe way to access the cap thought this might work to remove it from the ground through the clean out.

What do you guys think?
