Wondering if anyone has made a filter box for their blowers on the back of their furnace. The one for my unit won't fit for my setup so I was thinking about making my own. Any ideas would help.

In my previous house I moved the furnace location and replace all of the ductwork. I did some custom sheet metal work for the furnace take off and return but I bought a filter adapter. There was a central return and I used a filter grille.

Without a photo of your setup, I would recommend you study what is existing, carefully look at components available at your local Menards and Home Depot, take a look at filter adapter pictures on the internet, figure out what filter you need, draw up a good sketch, and go to your local HVAC supplier. It is likely they have exactly what you need, prefabricated. If not, they should be able to recommend a couple of HVAC installers who can fab up the sheet metal.

A guy can cut the metal to size, but a good brake is a near must have for the accurate tight bends that you need for a filter adapter.

Is it just a box, or is there ductwork attached?

Go to any hvac supply house or plumbing for that matter, they will have them.

This was for an owb set up. they completely removed there indoor wood stove. To many chimney fires. I made this box and hooked it up to the existing plenum. The door swings open to remove the filters they are above and behind the blower. Then the air goes through the other side and up through the heat exchanger.

Does that meat clearance to combustibles on your furnace?
