As it happens, I have one in my basement. It was installed, when the house was built, some 25-30 years ago. The original owners (my wife and her late first husband) never got around to burning wood in it! Neither have I. It has been used as an oil-fired boiler, only. I am interested in removing it and installing a cold-start, modulating, gas boiler. As such, I am trying to figure out what the Wood Gun is worth.
You might ask, "Why was it never used to burn wood?" When the house was built, the family moved, with 3 small children, into an unfinished house (it is still not finished but that's another story). The hydronic system was not complete (radiant heat in the floors) so they heated with a Hearthstone wood stove (which we still have) in the living room. The house has an open floor plan with good convection paths. We have heated with the stove during power outages and the house is quite comfortable. carrying and storing wood in the basement would be a vexation so I believe the whole idea of the Wood Gun was one (of several) aspects of the grand plan of this house that fell by the wayside.
I want to get a stake in the ground for an asking price and get a quote from a rigger to remove it and deliver it so that I have answers to the obvious questions when I post it for sale.
