After 34 years of whacking trees on the place and 100% wood heating, I had to hang up harvesting two years ago due to age and health. Saving enough in the shed for power outages. The three years ahead rule is fact folks. Do it!
Then today I was walking down through the woods to get the mail. Right by my old harvesting trail are a 130 foot and a 100 foot white oak with trunks as straight as arrows that have fallen over due to a year of pouring rains wetting the soil and high winds a week ago. Five years ago they would have been on the stacks within days.
Good thing I don't cry easily.

Are some local scouts or football team players looking for some exercise?

I've been mainly scrounging smaller dead stuff, standing or down...Red Elm with no bark, White Oak branches on the ground with all the sapwood rotted away, etc. My days of rasslin' big rounds are winding down.
