Hughesnet internet service/ Does anybody hate them as much as I do?

I can't be on for more than 15 minutes without gettin booted off. Customer service is a joke. Problem ia they're the only game in town.
Anybody have similar experiences? I can't believe I pay $60/month for this crap.

i use a internet card from verizon wireless 68.00/month no cable or dsl so that is what were stuck with it works pretty good for where we are. OH how i miss the old apartment and cable internet

Being a dealer and installer for HughesNet and Wildblue, when I go on service calls I find that is is usually installation issues that cause the problems. Most of the time it is pointing and peaking with the dish being out of alignment. I have seen damaged coax, bad connectors and faulty ground blocks. It may not be the actual service but an install deficiencies. Have you local dealer put his meter on the antenna,90% chance it will fix your issue.

Ja, I agree with Bob. Most likely a signal quality issue. That said, sat internet would be and is the last resort for many because of the high latency and FAP. I'm fortunate in that I can get good service from a WISP using Canopy 5.7 GHz gear.

I've got Wildblue, it works ok, too expensive and the FAP sucks but its reasonably stable. Its interesting that I stay online in a raging blizzard but lose signal when it rains really hard.

Wow, that's great. The best I can do for download is around 1MBps download on Sprint 4G mobile broadband, and I'm lucky enough to be near a tower.

I've had hughesnet for 6+ years, the only game in town here. Once installed properly and you stay within its FAP limits its not that bad. sometimes slow during primetime but it I accept it for what it is. I'm actually glad to have it.
