Husky 435 parts help

Hey all, I just picked up a new Husqvarna 435, 16 in bar. I didn't notice until after I got it home that it does not have any spikes/felling dogs.

I did some googling and found a few things. First, it looks like the 435 came with a single inner spike on previous models. Not sure why it didn't come on mine. Secondly, I think that I found the correct parts I need to get my hands on. Just checking to see if anybody can confirm this will fit my saw before I order it.

Looks like I need parts D21 and D22. Can anybody confirm these will fit a brand new 435?

It says 05-08. Does your saw have the holes there for the spike bar? You could compare that part # to the # of newer & older models to see if they all use the same.

This came from the Husqvarna website listing the parts for 05-11 years.

Mine is a 2014, confirmed with the serial number. Mine does have two holes that are vacant, and i can see threads inside them. Obviously they are intended for something to be bolted in there. I can't seem to find a parts diagram for a 2014 model. Anybody else have luck?

The parts are cheap enough to warrant taking a chance. You could also give Husqvarna a call and ask them directly. When I initially read your post I thought you bought a used saw - Sorry about that.

Either find a good after market set of dogs or go see your local Husky service guy and ask him what you need for the OEM dogs. He may not have any in the shop but could look it up pronto.

Just a thought to make your life easier. Obtain the carburetor spline adjusting tool at all costs. The 435s were notorious for being impossible to start with the factory carb settings. Before I got my carb tool, the only way I could start mine was to wedge my boot in the handle to give it full throttle. And it would not idle - the end.

Once a buddy of mine and I got the adjusting tool, it began to act as advertised. It is a wicked cool cutting machine once the high and low points are set. I got the chain saw file and guide kit from Husky as well. Chain touch ups take about ten minutes or less and life is very good!!

Bought the Husky parts for my 2013, spike and screws, and they installed perfectly. Parts were $11 I think, the spikes fit in the groove on the saw perfectly, it was obviously designed for the parts. The spikes themselves are a little on the light side so if you can find an aftermarket replacement part I would try it. At the end of the day it is only a 40cc saw with a 16" bar, the spikes don't need to be but so tuff.
