Hey guys! New to the forum but been reading a lot of post here lately! I'm looking into owb gasification units. Originally had planned to get a hardy h2. I've got a buddy who has one and they love it. I started doing some research and found out the gasser may be a better option. Now, I've kinda boiled it down between a hardy kb125 and a central boiler eclassic 1450. If anybody has any others that they like better feel free to share. These are just the ones I've found that dealers are nearby. I definitely want it outdoors though. Kind of curious if anybody has either of these two though! I know hardy hasn't had their gasification out very long and cannot find any reviews on them any where. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Cody, lots of options out there of these types of wood burners, but you must do some research on the companies themselves. I can tell you from experience that Central Boiler is a NIGHTMARE to deal with. They do not honor the warranty, and the warranty itself isn't worth the paper it is printed on. I have an eclassic 2400 that has performed pretty well other than the corrosion of the fire box and leaking water jacket ! They have not helped me one bit, and now have put me on their 'pay no mind' list.

Lots of guys on here have the Orlan/EKO furnaces, and swear by them.

Cody, Lots of happy Hardy owners around us. I don't think the KB125 is a gasification boiler. I can't tell if there's a secondary burn from the brochure. I came here 6 years ago to research Hardy alternatives and discovered gasification boilers. I don't know if "outdoor" gassers existed back then. If your willing to build a small shed there are a number of proven, "indoor" gassers at the Hardy pricepoint. Yeah, the shed adds cost, but you'll be out of the weather when you tend the boiler. These indoor gassers are just not designed to be out in the weather.
Many happy EKO, BioMass, and Attack users here with their boilers in an outbuilding. I looked at the Attack product line yesterday and its impressive for the pricepoint. Our BioMass has been great, any problems were user related or standard wear. You won't find Hardy folks showing up here which is probably an indication of pretty good customer support. But I'm really glad I didn't get the Hardy. Our BioMass is much cleaner burning than the Hardy's I see. Time is money so boiler efficiency should be a major consideration. Wood processing time can become considerable. Welcome and take your time researching.

Yes, they are a gasification unit. I am currently waiting for mine to be delivered. No, you will not find much info on them yet because there aren't that many out there yet. After receiving the quote on mine, there was no way I could resist it. Yes, I was originally thinking an indoor gasser, but this price has me turned a different direction. Time will tell. If I don't like it, I will have already installed the underground piping and heat exchanger, so I can easily go a different route. Pretty much a no-brainer for me at this point. Will be up and running this summer in preparation for next winter.

thanks for all the replys! The main reason for looking at the gasser is less wood consumption and less smoke. I don't think any of my neighbors would complain but ya never know. What made you decide to go with the hardy Jrod? My worry on the hardy is the stainless steel. I know with the conventional I've read where it will crack over time and I know the gasification would be much hotter yet. Should I worry about that or not. Never seen any complaints on the Hardys in general. Thanks again!
I too have friends with H2's and H4's. I researched them quite a bit, but was unhappy with their wood consumption. I have been told to expect the KB125 to use 50-60% less wood than the H2 will use with 12 hour burn times. Time will tell soon enough. Mine will also be installed in a boiler shed, so no outside fillings either. Shed is almost done, just waiting on boiler.
