OK I am finally leaning toward the Hampton Hi 2450 in black, but have a question about installation. I have read some people mention things like getting an insulated 6 inch pipe and have a block off plate on the top. Are theses things that are standard or do I need to ask about them? Any other installation questions that would be good to ask?

An insulated liner is strongly recommended if it's in a cold, exterior wall chimney in order to keep the flue gases hotter, all the way to the top of the chimney. This helps draft and reduces creosote buildup. Code requires an insulated liner if an interior chimney does not have 2" clearance from all combustibles all the way up thru the roof, or 1" clearance if it is an exterior chimney.
I am in northern Illinois, so it can get single digits and windchills in the negatives but nothing too horrible. It is an exterior wall chimney. Any insight with block off plate on the top of the insert?
