I am looking at installing an older 1993 C160 Ironstriker. I purchased a home that had what appears to be a basic fireplace. I was given this fireplace insert from and friend and was really wanting to ins
tall it to heat my home. I don’t have the financial means to buy something new. I was planning on adding a double ply single wall chimney liner. I went on the roof to determine what my current set up was and it seems like there may already be a double wall pipe (see pictures) My questions:
1. Do I need to insert a liner? The current pipe is 9” diameter of the internal pipe and 13” diameter on the external. The stove insert is 6”
2. If a liner is needed, should I insulate the liner before sliding it in the 9” pipe?
3. If a liner is needed, can the 9” pipe stay or will it need to be removed entirely?
4. If I don’t need to insert a liner, is there an adapter that would get me from the 6” stove insert to the 9” pipe?
