Instructions for new control panel for Englander 25-PDVP (96)

I have an Englander Pellet Stove that was purchased in 1996. Recently I replaced the control panel with a new board that I ordered from New England Stove Works. The part number on the control board that I recently installed is: PU-CB98. This control board replaces the former control board that my pellet stove originally came with. The new control board did not come with instructions or a trouble shooting guide. I am wondering if anyone can tell me where I can find some reference material so I can learn how to run it properly.

I have done all the maintenance on my already 18 year old stove and have replaced auger motors and fans and now finally the control panel this year. Already I have had an error message, just an "E" with no number behind it and the unit seems to want to shut down after a half hour of running or so even though the room fan is already running. Also, I want to know how to adjust the burn rate if need be, so I would really like to get some sort of instructions for that particular control panel.

Thank you Lake Girl! I do have it installed, but now it is going through way more pellets than I have previously been accustomed to using each day. I used to burn about a bag a day and now it is burning about two bags a day on 5/5 - heat/blower. YIKES I am quite sure there is a way to improve that burn rate and still keep it warm in the house! I just want the full instructions and trouble shooting information for this control panel.

If I was you I would not discard the old board. I would see about getting it rebuilt. There are several people/places that do that. You just never know.....

Well, I wish I had known that before I installed the new one. Maybe I can have the old one repaired and hold onto it as a spare. There is a learning curve to the new one, so I am still trying to figure it out.

I am not sure what the 3 lower buttons should be set at for stoves built before 2004, Mike @ ESW will be you best bet to answer that.

Heat Mode Setting ...... older boards.
if the board is a "non igniter" board the procedure is different may require 2 people if the plug is on the other side of the stove , the up and down blower speed buttons are held in while the stove is being plugged in , in other words, unplug , press AND HOLD the up and down blower speed buttons , plug in WITHOUT LETTING GO OF THE BUTTONS then once its plugged in ,let go of the blower speed buttons and set the abcd mode with the heat range up or down. then tap the "on " button twice to lock it in.

A new control board may not be set to the correct operating mode for your stove. There have been many threads about how to do a control board reset and then how to check and set the operation mode.

The reset will work on this stove, but it may also set the stove to mode 'A', you will need to change it back to 'c' by following the instructions I posted here in this thread.

To change the mode you will need to press both the up or down buttons at the same time, the 25-PDVC only needs one button to change the mode, the PDV needs both buttons pressed to change the mode.

Setting the Heat Mode
Heat Mode, the default setting is 'd' for the 25-PDVC, and for the 25-PDV it is 'c', but some control boards default to 'A' when a reset is done. Do not run the stove in 'A' or 'b' mode.
Unplug the stove from the mains.
Plug power lead back in and press both the up and down blower speed buttons at the same time within 4 - 5 seconds and then release the buttons, you should now see a letter (A, b, c or d) in the left or right digital display under heat range or blower setting, you need to change this to 'd' or 'c' using the up / down buttons below that readout, or in case of the 25-PDV you need to use both buttons up or down, once set to 'd' or 'c' wait 10 - 15 seconds then unplug the power again and wait 5 seconds. (Sometimes the mode that you want does not set and defaults back to the mode that it was in before, repeat this step to make sure the mode that you want is set.)

I need to take in all this good advice, but I am really not happy at all tonight. We burned through four bags of pellets in two days on heat setting 1 and 2. That is NOT COOL Especially since we were only using one bag a day before, with the old control panel. Now I know there MUST be a solution, so going to look through this advice tonight. Just really not happy. I called Englander yesterday and at least hopefully got the starting issue fixed... it always takes two tries now... hopefully that is fixed, but this is going to more than double our pellet usage for the winter. Really displeased! The guy I talked to at England Stove Works told me these stoves work on a 12 hour cycle so 40 lbs of pellets in 12 hours with a heat setting of 5. Kind of makes me think England Stove Works must get some sort of kick back in relation to how many pellets people have to buy. I know that sounds ridiculous, but I just want a solution. No more run around! I will try these links and solutions you have sent and I appreciate the help! Also, I did a search, it looks like a lot of people have had this same problem, so here is to praying for solutions!
