Either will work, but drop down to 5 or 5.5" for better draft control.

A smaller pipe has two effects:

1. Reduce draft. 35 feet of 6" pipe can suck hard!

2. Increase velocity. You have a fixed pressure differential, and your stove allows a fixed amount of air into the pipe, so a smaller pipe = increased velocity. As begreen already stated, higher velocity = less cooling and deposit in the pipe.
