My in-laws shared these pics of how wood is delivered in France. The lift picks up the box and swings it to the drop point. If it's done like this in the States, I've never seen it. Over there, wood is measured by the "stere" or meter cubed. I'm guessing each box is 2 cubic meters.

That is a pretty cool idea to keep man power to a minimum during delivery. I have heard of some deliveries being carried out in roll off dumpsters, but this is a first for me seeing specifically built cages.
 
All we need now is half cord containers made that way for the US market. Judging by the rust that is not a new container by any means.
 
There was a local company that sold wood in roll on/ roll off dumpsters
 
Thanks for sharing your images with us. That is a great idea to standardize the firewood industry. A bit costly up front but still a very good way to keep a standard measurement across all suppliers.
