A guy I work with makes traditional bows with hedge, he made me an axe handle also. That’s a show piece I have by the wood stove it’s absolutely beautiful!
That's really cool that you make your own bows. I checked out your pictures, very nice! There's something about primitive tools. Not to throw this thread off course, but our daughters friend, a woman, uses an atlatl to hunt with, and successfully I might add.Here's a post on bows from way back. Haven't made one for a while but have some staves ready to go. need to get back into it

Well, fall is bearing down on us so i decided to post some pics of what I hope to use to fill my freezer with this year. (If not, the .308 works fine...) start with some riven /split hedge...get close to bow size and Dry, dry, dry...To around 7-8% MC! You can build a drying box or use hot attic...www.hearth.com
