......let it be for now and put some on after the burning season. it probably will just turn again if you try and put any paint/polish on it. jmho
No, don't use polish!
It was painted with Stove Bright Flat Black from the factory. It's quick, easy, and it'll match!

Stove polish is the devil, do not use it. It will burn up and look the same a few weeks after applying it and anyone or anything touches the stove will be black.
Strange that it would fade in such a distinct line like that.
Is there maybe a source of sunlight (window) that might be casting a daily amount of ultraviolet light onto the paint on that area only?
Is the other side faded also?
Just taking another approach here.
Curtains, furniture, painted woodwork can be affected by sunlight.

They must have the jacket close to the steel. In the Alderlea series there is enough of an air gap that I have not seen this happen.

Feeling the Heat
Any chance of overfiring? Looks like the lower area is normal, where it would be protected from firebrick, while upper is fading or getting "the overfiring haze".
Is it doing this all the way around and on top also?
