Is this stove epa certified?

Was thinking bout bidding on this, anyone have any idea if it is a stove built in the 90's-up? seller dosnt know. Its missing the cat, think this is a good deal at around 6-700?
Its a Defiant model number 2550. I'd imagine that if it has a cat than its epa certified...just want to double check and here any feed back to the max I should bid.

At the same time, these stoves are known for the high cost of parts replacement. Just the missing Cat is almost $300. - If it needs the combustion chamber around the cat, that could be a couple hundred more.

Probably, but the way to make absolutely sure is to have the seller look at the back of the stove and find the information plate that will confirm it. If the seller doesn't know that fundamental fact about the stove he's selling, I wonder what else he doesn't know. Rick
