this is a run of the alewife fish from the ocean to the breeding grounds in our fresh water lakes. In this area, there is a man made fish ladder with resting pools to allow the fish to climb up around a very steep falls. So odd because once some of them make it to the top, there are schools of big fish waiting for their dinner to be served. But these fish are in the thousands, so many do make it.

I tried to get this with my Ipad
 
That is a real nice fish ladder using natural stone. Not the concrete ones like I have seen.

When the herring run, the striped bass are right behind them.
