Hard to believe but its been 18 months since I brought a load of wood home. Had a great weekend in the woods and definitely good to see a pile of rounds sitting by the splitter again.

Haven't gone that long before as I don't have the room to get that far ahead. But I do take a couple months off and know how great it feels to get back at it.

Was all the equipment ready to go and happy to come back into service with that much time off?

have fun!

Equipment was all good, the operator on the other hand... A little time in the woods is good for the body and the head. I have also become accustomed to burning dry wood which won't continue if I don't get my ash in gear.

I have been dawdling on splitting a load of rounds too. Now that it's getting cooler I have no excuse other than the aching back that i know will follow.

I'm still working at stacking what was cut last winter....

I scrounge and cut, split and stack all spring and summer. I like working outside period. So I stay sore all year!!!.

I switched jobs two and a half years ago and lost all my scrounging opportunities. New arrangement is much better as I get to spend some time with an old friend I haven't seen much of in the last 10 years. It's also nice to cut all of my wood so that it is one length...the ideal one for my stove;) Might even be able to make some of them perty stacks like Dennis now:)

Wow 18 months.... Glad to see you had a good weekend . Probably will fire you up now for sometime ;lol

I get fired up...just hasn't happened in a while>>

I have a hard time believing that the altitude of your mountain of wood has dropped below 10,000 ft. ;hm ;lol

I burn about 8 cord a year and sold 5 cord two years ago. When you stop filling the pipeline for 18 months, the mountain drops pretty quick. Other than the 8x8s I split for those special occasions when its cold and blowin, I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of the current batch burned in the 2015-16 season.

Glad to see that you are back at it. Us "pile" guys have to stick together.;)
