BG- understand what you're saying- my idea of a hybrid is a stove that tries to bring the best qualities out of different stove materials (cast and steel in Jotul's case), not just burn technology. The Hearthstone Phoenix has been known as a "hybrid" design for years utilizing cast and soapstone qualities in one stove. I do get what you mean though. Thanks.
