Looking at one for sale locally. Consider for use in outbuilding and wondering if it might serve double duty as maple syrup heater - does the top get hot enough to act as a cook top? Anything particular to look out for in a 118 manufactured in the late 70s? Looks to be in great condition with no cracks, but haven't seen internal pics.

Thanks for any information,

Tim

I'd pick up an old steel box instead for about $150. If the Jotul is in great shape it should get a nice home.

It would have been on our list of prospects except for the length.
