On our way to Maine last week the wife and I stopped off at Woodstock Stove to see where they make these awesome stoves. Penny gave us a great tour and then I was able to ask her a question about the sooting issue I have been having. I want to share this so others will know. I am betting that I will get better burns now and even more heat from cat. Here it goes
I have had sooting on the lid to my Fireview since we got it. I was thinking it was the gaskets but the stove is only two years old. I explained it to Penny and she gave me a couple of thoughts on it. As I watched her explain the possible issues I noticed that the Fireview she was showing us the cat lever actually "clicked" into place. I have only ever let the close and never actually pulled it shut.
When I got home I gave it a good pull and felt it close tight! Over the past two years I've been losing the overall effectiveness of the stove. I'm hoping this will help someone else.
