Hi everyone, I have a fairly large stone fireplace. I was looking to buy a pellet insert for additional heat.

A friend/neighbor offered me his pellet stove for free. It’s only a few years old, in great condition. It’s a Quadrafire Castile pellet stove.

I am wondering if it would be possible to install that in my fireplace. The hearth extends about 18” beyond the opening of the fireplace. I’m wondering if I could have the stove installed there, and have it halfway in the fireplace, and halfway not the hearth that extends from the opening.

I was quoted $7,500 for a Harman (I think it’s an 45i….can’t recall off the top of my head) insert.

I can supply actual measurements, but wondering if this is possible.

Thanks, everyone!! 😊

It is possible to install the unit in front of a fireplace, and if the fireplace is big enough, it can be installed in the fireplace.
Everything depends on the stove, its need for space and the fireplace . For example, the height has to be enough to lift the lid to the pellet hopper for refilling. To get an accurate assessment, I would need measurements and pictures

Hello. The pellet stoves itself has the following dimensions: 24 inches wide, 28-9/16 inches high, and 24-5/8 inches deep.

I’m wondering if the stove can be out on the heart far enough to open the hood to fill the pellets.

I am attaching the fireplace measurements they include just about every part of the fireplace with a diagram. Hope this helps. Maybe this isn’t a good idea, but I thought I’d try. Thank you!
