Greetings all,

The problem I am having is that i purchased a Drolet Savannah stove and the owners manual gives no info on the R value to construct the hearth, I have gone through some of there other manuals to see if I could find any info and it basically says firepoof surface in case of embers or hot coals. It does not have legs, just a rectangle base with a large ash drawer, I'm sure this adds to the isulating properties of the stove but thought I would ask if someone had a simular scenario. Plan on using ceramic tile for surface. Thanks everyone

Here's a thread from a couple weeks ago that may help you get started and guide you on your own search. This one says an R value of 1.5 and shows you how to get started. You could use the same idea and just put ceramic tile on the cement board.
