Any suggestions of measuring the width (narrow part) of my clay liner from the fire box. I don't have a ladder high enough to measure from above. Damper is still in place and I believe it looks like it may be 8 x 13 tile but I need a pretty accurate measurement of the i.d. to see what liner and insulation to order. I Have a line on some slightly used duravent rigid liner with 6.75 inch O.D. Thanks for any suggestions

Get a broom handle or something similar. Put a piece of scrap wood on the tip of it. Insert through the damper up to the flue and see if it fits. Trim accordingly until it looks like it's a good fit. Then just measure the stick. Might be a better way but that was my first thought.
