We are installing a mendota FV42 stove with flush face option (option 2)
Marble folks are coming to template the marble surround on Friday.

Question:

There are four metal guides screwed to the front of the stove that stick out 1 inch. We have been told the marble should go flush to the guides.
When I place the front frame (screen) on the stove, There is no overlap (lip) on the front face to the stove. (see picture) i.e. The front face screen will not overlap the marble on all 4 sides. Stove shop says there should be 1/16 overlap on top and sides, and a gap on the bottom. 1/16 seems so small. I would expect the front face screen to overlap the marble by at least 1/4 inch.

Tough question, but anyone have a Mendota FV unit with a grace front face, they could share with me how much overlap there is?
I've been trying to reach the company but no reply since Monday.

Thanks for any help
Steve

Looks to be about 1/16" overlap on the top of the unit.
Is there a gap on BOTH sides?
Id say it's flush. The front face has more the 1/16 of slop side to side so very hard to tell. My gut is to just remove the guides and run the marble 1/4 further in on sides and top. Stove shop says it's fine as is. Also the bottom guide (guide is basically along L bracket)has the non flush screws facing out. i.e. they will be under the cement board. Sides and top have screws on inside

Check to see if it IS flush. Use a speed square or framing square,
held against one side & slide the front til it hits the square.
What's it look like on the other side?

Thanks,
If I make it flush on the left and measure (Best I can) with my caliper I get 3/64".

Hmmm. Pretty close to flush.
Your call on the removal of recommended components
dictated by the install manual. You may compromise your
homeowners insurance contract or the warranty by doing so.
Take a couple of blocks of wood, the same thickness as your stone
facing, & hold them on each side with front centered & see what
the finished facing will look like. If it's aesthetically pleasing &
you (or your SO) find it acceptable, you're good to go.

Thanks, Difficult times, but frustrating that Mendota wont answer me.
Will try what you say and see. Since I could have chosen an option where the front face is inside the marble (vs over) its hard to believe there would be a warranty/insurance issue, but that's why im obsessing over this.
Am hoping someone who has a Mendota FV stove might weigh in with what they have.
Thanks again!
