Morso 5660 vermiculite bricks

I have paid for a Morso 5660 insert w blower, but now am reading about the vermiculite firebricks. Due to the Libby Montana contamination of vermiculite mines with asbestos, I am very leery. I have been told glibly that "they don't use vermiculite from Libby any more." I don't know how to make sure the vermiculite came from somewhere else, or if it has been a problem in other mines. Anyone know how to verify this? How can I make sure the Morso bricks come from Denmark (that's what Morso in Vermont says on the phone), and that Denmark doesn't also have an asbestos problem?

i guess i dont see the concern, even if there was some trace of asbestos in their bricks...*(which i highly doubt)
its not like you are going to be cutting them, or breathing dust from them?

I don't know if Morso ever used vermiculite from the US. You may need to contact Morso Denmark to confirm.

Well, as far as breathing the dust, if you toss wood onto them, and open and close the stove, then you'd be breathing it.

Not really. The draft of the stove will keep negative pressure in the stove. Without it you would have smoke pouring out every time the door is opened. With vermiculite panels I would "place" the wood, not toss it in. They are a bit more fragile and expensive than firebrick.

Have you considered an alternative to the Morso if this is of great concern? Maybe an Osburn Matrix, PE Neo or a Regency Alterra?
