Norman Rockwell was my first impression too! I could also see this painting coming up on Antiques Roadshow... "What you have here is an early painting by Americana artist so and so, but what makes this piece so desirable with collectors is he painted his lab with two collars.".

Good looking dog too. Looks like the dog is looking for incoming ducks or geese or ready to track down one of the long gone pheasants here in Michigan.

So you by any chance live in Menominee county? There or Delta comes to mind looking at your pictures.
 
Nice. I always liked that area around Stephenson, which would not be very far from you. We used to live a bit further north; more in the Escanaba-Gladstone area.
 
For sure another really nice area. We haven't been back there for too long. Hoping that might change in the future.
