Hi all, it has been a while.
For the second time in about two weeks, for whatever reason I left my by-pass flap open after I loaded my wood. The good news is I found out the unit can handle it, but barely. Both times I wish I could have seen how hot the stack ended up (I have a gauge). While most of my stack is the double insulates 8", I have one section of strait black, and my TEE is also black. So naturally any foam insulation I had as the final coat on my water pipes melted.
Another interesting thing that happens is the water temp in the Eco over heats. This really baffles me that there would not be enough movement to circulate the water and keep things cool, because only water in the very top of the eco would be getting heated. I use the Laddomat for the pump transfer to my twin 500 gal tanks. If anyone can explain what this means I would love to know.
Lastly I have thought about installing an audible alarm on my flap/arm. However this would not work for me because I wont be around to hear it. My idea is for some sort of signal that might activate a call to my cell phone. This would be PEFECT, but I have no knowledge of what it would take to make this happen. Some sort of stack reading gauge with a set ceiling temp I guess. I have access to a phone line if it helps.
