Looks fantastic. Nice rustic look. What is the mantle made of? It looks interesting.
 
The mantel is Walnut, about 4" thick. We stripped the bark off the face. the face is "wavey" and has knots sticking out in places. A good friend who helped me build this had a couple pieces of walnut shipped from California about 15 years ago when he was building a couple fireplaces for himself and family members. This was left over. The picture doesnt do it justice - it is really a sweet piece of wood!
 
Oh!!!!! the walnut has epoxy on it, DUH....at 1st I thought it was high buffed copper. Kind looks like it's reflecting the fire but its the flash of the camera.
