I am trying to decide which stove to get as supplemental heating in a 2500 sq ft house.
I have seen both these stoves in person, and here they are:
Lopi Spirit DV
(broken link removed)
Jotul Firelight
(broken link removed)
From what I have seen, the Lopi Spirit surface temperature probably gets hotter than the Jotul Firelight because it has solid plates on top (which can be used for cooking too), but for some reason I heard they are discontinuing the Lopi Spirit next year because those solid plates are no longer allowed. This is just what I heard. The Lopi Spirit is a steel stove. The Lopi Spirit has a smaller fire viewing area than the Jotul Firelight. The Jotul Firelight has a 3,500 higher BTU output (LP) than the Lopi Spirit. The Jotul Firelight is a cast iron stove.
Which of these two stoves would be a better bet?
I know there are more powerful gas stoves on the market, but I like the traditional looking stoves, not the modern looking ones.
Any information will be appreciated. Thanks.
