I have a nice elderly neighbor lady who has a heavily treed yard. Every so often, a tree will fall and she's happy to have me clean up "the mess."

The other day, she calls to say a big branch fell. It's a little one, but I notice 2 decent-sized standing dead trees in her yard. I mention them and she says "yes, please take them down!"

Here are the rounds from those trees:

My log splitter assistant and I wasted no time busting up those rounds!

Still have to stack them up, but it felt good to make some firewood with just a bit of sweat equity.

Not sure of the species of wood, but I suspect one of them was oak--my little swisher splitter really struggled splitting those rounds.....

Nice! I love it when my neighbors think of me as that "wood burning guy". Also what type of log splitter is that? Don't think I've ever seen that before.

Nevermind, see your signature now. Neat.

I see nice size black cherry also.

oak normally splits easy.

Black Cherry, but hard to see the bark on the other one. Almost looks like Hickory bark. I don't see any stringy splits, though...

Nice stuff there....
