Quick question for the professionals...

Is there any reason NOT to install Class A inside existing Air Cooled or Solid Pack chimney? I currently have two projects that beg the question. Both are hoping to avoid the uninstall/reinstall of the flashing/anchoring and are wanting to use the existing hardware as a structural member through which Class A could be installed /secured to.

I can't rule out the possibility from a code/rules perspective, but it (obvs) feels odd. Would love to gain insight from those who may have dealt with a similar situation and know their way around the applicable building codes.

Thanks!
