We just purchased an M55 and had it installed on Monday. We love the look and quiet operation of the stove but I am a bit disappointed in the heat output. We have a 2000 square foot ranch with a very open floor plan.
The hallway 10 feet away from the stove is 63 degrees. We are running it in manual mode on level three. It has been cold out with temps in the teens during the day and single digits at night. We are using Hamer's Hot ones for fuel.
Since we are new to this, I'm not sure if it is operator error. Unfortunately, the installer did not spend much time going over the settings and the manual is not helpful.
I keep reading posts from people who are toasty warm and we are not warm. Any help is so greatly appreciated.

turn it up...you still got 2 heat levels to go! its a very capable unit, but they only do what you tell them to do.

I did have it turned up to 5 for an hour or two last night but it did not raise the temperature significantly. Most people here have posted that they have never used level 5. We ran it on level 4 all day yesterday and the house was only 66. Maybe my expectations are too high.

Place a box fan on the floor of the hallway and blow the cold air to the stove area.

Reading these post just makes more confused now. Did you have something installed before the insert and you upgraded?

No - we had a regular wood burning fireplace. I expected more in terms of heat from the insert. It heats the room well but so did the fireplace. My expectations were based on peoples' post claiming it heated their whole house to a warm 72 degrees etc. Perhaps these owners are doing something else such as using fans. I'm just trying to get some advice as to the best way to utilize the stove for maximum performance.

I know i have a old wood burning insert now. Im looking purchase a newer wood or pellet insert. Im just dont think they produce the same heat as this one

The M55 has a slide on the auger which is adjustable. If you slide it forward it will allow more fuel per turn of the auger. A 2000 sg ft house is no problem for the M55. Please burn the best pellets you can find. It does make a big difference. BTW - you need a 1/4" socket to loosen the screws on the auger cover.

You should definitely be getting better heat than that, how is the flame? On 4 or 5 it should be nice and tall, filling most of the chamber. Enviro has a video on YouTube with the stove in operation for comparison. I ask this because I had a bit of a problem with the flame after mine was installed, which ended up being an issue with the thermostat switch. There is a magnet glued to the bottom of the hopper lid for the auger switch. This magnet stuck down just far enough to scrape on the thermostat switch, so that when the lid was closed it would push the switch to the hi/lo or on/off position, but when I opened the lid it would drag it back to manual position. Of course I could not see this was happening, but the flame would die down and the pellets would drop to a trickle. You can check to see if this is happening by closing the lid normally, then lift it slightly when you open it so it doesn't drag on the switch, and check to make sure it is still in manual position

I have a 1800 split level and on med high my harman has the house toasty. If you can't get it hotter I would give the dealer a shout .Should be warmer than 66 IMO Good luck

Level 5 is insanity. I never even use level 4 unless I want to heat up the house quick. I'm only heating 1300 sf or so though. Even so, after an hour on level 5 your living room should have been in the 80s.

Hi Ct- You probably need to have the adjustable slide collar opened a bit more. We had an M55 FS unit that lacked heat output and poor flame too, opened the collar from about half open (factory setting) to about 2/3 open- stove runs like a normal M55 now... Your installer should be happy to come back and do it for you. Adjusting the insert a bit harder than the FS, but that's probably what it needs, Hamers are normally very hot burning. We burn Spruce Pointe another hot pellet. Good luck.
